The night finally arrived   - 130 young people, dressed to impress, decended upon Histon Baptist Church for what promised to be a huge night of fun, laughter, dancing and truly classy entertainment.

After hours of preparation the venue was totally transformed by a red carpet, coloured lights - too many to count – and a buffet fit to impress James Bond himself.  Accompanied by a dazzling array of camera flashes guests laughed and posed for photos with their friends, resplendent in their finest attire!

They stepped inside to find a range of activities: a ‘casino’, dance floor, a chill out zone for the girls, a gaming zone full of TV’s and consoles, the truly tough Action Challenge that would test any 00 agent and a dining hall that was later filled with stunning canapés.

From the very start of the night, the Action Challenge exploded into life; a number of very physically and mentally demanding tests faced anyone brave enough to enter.  The ‘casino’ was a hive of activity. Our wonderful croupier, Spike, created a real buzz as they started dealing the cards and upping the anti with every new hand, each player vying for the prize of a large box of chocolates. The Mocktails Bar proved to be hugely popular with an endless stream of guests enticed by the range of mixes on offer.

The Girls’ Room remained a mystery to all the ‘Bond wannabees’ as only Bond Girls were permitted access.  Reports to MI.6 suggest that a very relaxed and chilled time was had by all.  There were, however, unconfirmed reports of some very crazy dancing and non-stop laughter.

Our smart and glamorous team of waiters served the tasty and tantalising canapés so wonderfully prepared by our very own catering team.  The fare was a real hit with guests and added a fittingly classy element to the evening.

The Gaming Zone drew a huge crowd with guests desperate to challenge each other on some of their favourite games. The ‘Ooohs’ and ‘Aaahs’ kept coming throughout the night as the tense and thrilling battles went right to the wire every time.

At 10pm the Dance Floor exploded into life - in an instant the room was packed with young people letting their hair down and dancing the night away till they were fit to drop. An hour and a half later, as the night came to a close and the D.J played the last song in his set it was clear everybody had had a really great time.

Quote from the Guests:

• ‘Epic Raving’ (Beth)

• ‘It was the talk of my year at school’ (Josie)

• ‘Fresher’s prologue’ (Ben Green)

• ‘Amazing, great fun’ (Issac)

• ‘Loved it’ (Abby)

• Simply amazing (Zoe Cheng)

Chatter, smiles, laughter and hugs were the measure of the night’s success as the guests, walked once more along

the red carpet.  The team, weary but buzzing, congratulated each other on a job well done.  And, hopefully, it’s just the first of many…

I would like to personally thank everyone that helped make this event possible in what every way. From the smallest to the largest contribution you were all instrumental in making this event a great success for all the young people who came along. Special thanks go to Rod and Karen Boyce. Thank you for your generous hearts, tireless efforts and total believe in me and the vision.
