Girl Talk

Girl Talk is the name we give to the women’s ministry at New Life Church. In Titus 2: 3-5 it says:

“Teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no-one will malign the word of God.”

Girl Talk is all about encouraging each other in our walk with God. We do this through Bible study, prayer, and discussion about the real issues that we face in our daily lives.

In recent years we have done a number of different studies such as “Believing God’ (by Beth Moore), Captivating (by John and Stasi Eldridge) and ‘Drawing Near’ (by John Bevere).

Girl Talk is also a place to make friends and have fun. Recently we were taught how to make chocolate by local chocolatiere, Cheryl Brightly!

Our annual conference is a highlight of our year. Over the past 7 years, we have welcomed a wide range of speakers.  Last year Baroness Cox, from the House of Lords, inspired us all to remember those who are persecuted for their faith. Her courage and determination to not let their voices be forgotten, has taken her to many countries across the globe where she could bring humanitarian aid to relieve suffering.

Another year, Nancy Goudie from New Generation Music came and shared her moving story of ‘finding treasure in darkness’. Through the experience of her husband’s burnout and depression, she found her relationship with God deepen and strengthen. God can reach us wherever we’re at.

Rachel Gardner joined us from Romance Academy and challenged us to have a spiritual heart checkup!! She looked at the story of the woman whose heart had been so transformed by Jesus that she responded by pouring the most expensive perfume on his feet. She encouraged us to respond to Jesus’ love for us and show that same love to others.

I always think of our conference as a spiritual spa day!  It includes times of worship, prayer, hearing inspiring life stories, Bible teaching, making new friends and having fun. And the food is amazing!!

Consider yourself invited to our next conference, ‘Treasured’. We would love to meet you.
